What to Expect
-
Step 1
Fill out the relevant data in the form called LET US GET STARTED on our website-faimhealth.com
Dr. Rathod will review this and decide if she can help you. If needed, she may arrange a discovery call. If she is able to help you, then her office will book your initial appointment, enable you access to our health portal and will let you know what forms to fill out. Upload all labs and supporting documents that will enable her to understand your health background. This is the start of a two part process to build your health profile.
-
Step 2
During this virtual 60 minute visit Dr. Rathod will review your medical history, current ailments, health goals, prior lab tests, and lifestyle. With this information, she will be able to narrate your health story back to you, and will order the relevant advanced functional medicine tests along with any necessary routine labs. Only labs that have not been previously conducted and that she deems necessary will be ordered through Quest or LabCorp. This visit will complete the two part process to build your health profile.
-
Step 3
We will schedule a 45-minute new patient follow up visit post recipt of lab results. This is your virtual consultation to create a personalized plan based on your previously provided data as well as newer relevant data. I will share and remodel your health story the way I see it evolve based on these new results. Any prescriptions needed, supplements prescribed and your detailed instructions will be shared with you at this visit as part of your personalized plan.
-
Step 4
A few weeks after your personalized plan was discussed with you, we often schedule a 30-minute appointment to review any difficulties or complexities with your personalized plan. This step is important in not loosing traction with your plan. We often need to underscore the importance of the plan and can help you prioritize aspects of the plan based on your needs after you began this journey.
-
Step 5
As you continue to optimize your health Dr Rathod and her staff are there for you throughout your journey with follow-up appointments to track your progress, portal messaging support, and Lunch and Learn sessions with the doctor that is free for you to attend. The culmination of your journey is when you have your desired health goals acheived. At that point, we see each other at least once a year to continue to monitor health and lifestyle and your new health goals. Thisi s because health is not a static but rather a dynamic process of adjusting with your current environment.

FAQs
-
We currently see patients virtually in Florida and Missouri.
-
We do not accept insurance or Medicare. However you can use your FSA and HSA plans if you are enrolled in them to pay your medical bills. Some insurance carriers also may cover the cost of lab tests ordered.
-
You have access to Dr. Rathod through direct messaging in your patient portal. We do ask that you allow 48 hours for replies and understand that we do not work weekends or holidays.
Recurrent messaging may necessitate an office visit. Prescription solutions to a quick medical problem will incur an acute visit charge separate from your membership.
As a patient you will also have access to Dr. Rathod’s monthly Group Lunch & Learn sessions where you can bring any non-sensitive questions, meet other patients and listen to questions you may not have thought of yourself. It’s a fun way to be a part of our FAIM community.
-
Once labs are requested and ordered by Dr. Rathod the labs will ship kits directly to you with detailed instructions to complete in the comfort of your own home. If labs such as bloodwork are requested, these can be completed at a local Quest or LabCorp near you. If Functional labs require bloodwork, this will be setup through a local phlebotomy site.
Please note, all requested labs must be completed before your follow-up appointments, so we encourage you to complete labs promptly.
-
The first step is simply filling out our interest form, which Dr. Rathod will review. Her administrative assistant will contact you promptly to schedule a new patient visit.
If you have a complex case or medical history, Dr. Rathod may require the completion of a 15 minute Discovery Call, where Dr. Rathod will discuss your health needs with you.
At the end of each appointment, we will schedule your next visit based off your individualized plan.
Of course, this may be subject to change and we ask for a 48 hour notice. Please note, that this means for Monday appointments, we need a cancellation by the previous Thursday. You will have access to reschedule appointments through your patient portal.

Yes, Dr. Rathod is a fully licensed practitioner who can prescribe medications and specialty pharmacy drugs in her field, Rheumatology, such as Enbrel, Humira etc. Please note she no longer prescribes any controlled substances for pain, fatigue, ADHD and sleep.
-
Yes! As we are a virtual office, we cannot conduct full physical exams and therefore, cannot serve as your primary care. Often patients choose to work with us in addition to their PCP to provide a Functional Medicine perspective. This is okay with us, but we are still required by law to not title ourselves as primary care providers.
-
Yes, but since FAIM does not accept insurance this means you will not be reimbursed for the visit. Therefore, it may be best to keep your rheumatologist and work with Dr. Rathod as your consultant. She will work with you to try and get your disease under control or even help you get rid of the inflammatory response to minimize the need for drug therapy, if possible.
-
We are similar in many ways, but each of us come with a different set of tools that we consider invaluable. Unlike many Functional Medicine practices, Dr. Rathod bring 30 years of medical expertise to the table, with over 20 years practicing integrative medicine and an additional 12 years practicing functional medicine. She was in the very first cohort of functional medicine practitioners to undergo the intensive functional medicine certification process and is respected in her field.
